About Dianne Brooks

After 30 years in corporate information technology, I re-discovered my artistic energy. In 1999, a friend invited me to visit a silver jewelry class. That did it-- I was hooked! Since then I have made over 1,000 unique pieces, many of which are now in private collections across the U.S. Many have earned ribbons in juried shows over the last 10 years at both the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda, Florida and at the Florida Society of Goldsmiths.
I love to design with the power of color and patterns by cutting many of my own natural stones and fusing my own glass, as well as through enamels (powdered glass fused on metal), intarsia (geometrically assembled stones) and its sister, inlay, polymer clay, Kumihimo (Japanese braiding), beads, and colored wire. A focal stone provides the inspiration for my gold, silver and copper jewelry designs. Call me a "Swirly girl" -- I love flowing lines, curls and swirls. Usually an interesting stone will “tell me what it wants to be” and guides the design. I love working the metals – sawing, hammering, soldering, polishing, coloring, coiling – to give the stone center stage. I also love the organic experience of tooling leather. Each piece is one of my “children” and I give each one a name. I hope you love my “children” too. My work is for sale in Florida galleries or you can contact me directly. I would love to create a custom piece just for you.
